Brainy Beanies Exhibition Returns to Hamilton
For five days in May, The Nancy Caiger Gallery at The Meteor will once again be filled with an array of beautifully handcrafted beanies as the Brainy Beanies Exhibition returns to Hamilton.

Brainy Beanies is a unique fundraising initiative from Brain Tumour Support NZ that encourages crafters from around the country to create and donate beanies for this special exhibition which runs from 3rd to 7th May 2023.

International Brain Tumour Awareness Week 2022

International Brain Tumour Awareness Week (29 October to 5 November 2022) is a global campaign where the international brain tumour community comes together to raise awareness about brain tumours. This year, Brain Tumour Support NZ is showcasing the stories of five ordinary Kiwis who are adding their voices to the global chorus advocating for increased awareness, more research, and better treatments for brain tumour patients.

Brainy Beanies Exhibition to Launch Brain Tumour Awareness Month

Brainy Beanies is a craft exhibition with a difference. For the past five months Brain Tumour Support NZ has encouraged crafters from around the country to create original beanies for the exhibition with the message “created with love, by someone who cares.”

International Brain Tumour Awareness Week 30 October - 6 November 2021

This weekend Kiwis will be out trick or treating and dressing up in their scariest costumes for Halloween, with appropriate physical distancing of course. But for around 1,200 New Zealanders who were diagnosed with a brain tumour in the past year, the shock and fear on hearing their doctor utter the words “you have a brain tumour” trumps anything that Halloween can dish up.

Walking for brain tumour awareness

On 7 September 2020, brain cancer survivor Kate Coatsworth set out on foot from Cape Reinga to begin her epic journey “Beating The Track For Brain Cancer”, traveling the length of the country along the Te Araroa Trail to raise awareness about brain cancer and to fundraise for Brain Tumour Support NZ.

Epic Journey to Raise Funds for Brain Cancer

Brain Tumour Support NZ is delighted to be confirmed as the charity partner for Beating The Track For Brain Cancer, an awareness and fundraising campaign by Thames woman, Kate Coatsworth, to traverse the entire length of Aotearoa, New Zealand. Beating The Track For Brain Cancer is no ordinary assignment. In 2019, shortly after she moved to Sydney, Kate, at aged 33, was struck down by a glioblastoma multiforme - an aggressive type of brain cancer.

Brain Tumour Patients to get Support from Nelson Based Charity

Brain Tumour Support NZ, a Nelson based nationwide charity is launching their “Brain Boxes” - a pioneering initiative to support Kiwis across the length and breadth of Aotearoa New Zealand. Each Brain Box contains a number of essential items to support and provide information for brain tumour patients and their carers, including a set of six Patient Guides to help patients navigate their journey.

A Call for Funding of the Brain Cancer Drug Avastin

Brain tumour patients and carers joined health advocates from Patient Voice Aotearoa on the steps of Parliament today [21 November] to present a petition for government funding of the brain cancer drug Avastin. Brain Tumour Support NZ trustee, Chris Tse, presented the petition on behalf of Sel Leigh of the Tahu Hikuroa Foundation and the New Zealand brain tumour community.
